Hello again C3 families. We made it through another beautiful co-op day. It was great to have a switch up of spaghetti this week. Thanks to all the moms for contributing to the switch. IEW: We have written an outline for character development of Praiseworthy. Today I demonstrated how to use Decorations. Students can use their outline to write a first draft of their essay on the character of Praiseworthy. Then, edit the draft by adding 6 Dress Ups, 6 Sentence Openers and 6 Decorations. Finally, rewrite the essay a final time, marking all Dress Ups, Sentence Openers and Decorations. Bring everything to class Tuesday.
Dress Ups: who/which clause, -ly word, strong verb, quality adjective, www.asia, because clause
Sentence Opener: 1) Subject, 2) Prepositional, 3) -ly, 4) -ing, 5) www.asiab, 6) VSS (very short sentence)
Decorations: question, conversation, 3sss (3 short, staccato sentences), simile/metaphor, alliteration (repeated consonant sounds like: fuming, fiery furnace).
American History: Read "John Brown's Raid" and "Lincoln's Youth"
Write down four important facts from each chapter to share in class. I have been disappointed with this exercise because several students don't seem to bother with writing anything down. If more students participate, discussion is much richer!
American Literature: Please complete "Freedom Train beginning on Chapter 2 to page 101. Add these vocabulary words to your vocabulary notebooks after looking up the definition.
