High School
Spanish - complete exercises 7.10, 7.11 and 7.12 this week. Memorize vocabulary words listed on pp. 91 & 92 for a vocabulary quiz this Tuesday.
W. History - Read lessons 96-98 in Unit 20. Work on mural, song or speaking assignments for open house.
W. Literature- Complete the book "I, Juan de Pareja". Begin to prep for open house sharing of the book you have chosen. So far the choices have been Jonathan R. - "Cat of Bubastes", Elisha - "A Proud Taste for Scarlett and Miniver", Jonathan A. - "Hittite Warrior", and Jesse - "Bronze Bow", Ezra - "Martin Luther". In your presentation, as a reminder, please include 1. the historical setting of the book, 2. the historical background, 3. historical timeline, 4. characters in the book and which are historical and which are fictional, and 5. the theme and plot of the book. You can get creative in this and present your book in a song, a rap, a drawn picture that you will have to explain, or through excellent speech. Next Tuesday we discuss meeting at the theater and my home to see the two versions of "Les Miserables".
Biology- module 10 p. 299-324. Complete study guide for module 10
Anatomy- pg 275-286. Questions p 291 #16-19
Please study eye parts for the dissection, your bones & muscles.
Economics- Please read Chapter 6. Answer the questions for Ch 6 from the attachment I sent you last week (you have to scroll down to Ch 6).
Please research job descriptions for Mayor, City Council, City Manager, Controller or Treasurer, city planner, Tax Collector. Print to bring to class. You may divide it up between you if you want. I will send you clearer instructions for the graph paper
Latin:Review lessons 10 - 15, practice vocabulary words for all 5 lessons. We will have a testy covering the last 5 chapters in 2 weeks. Also, practice and memorize song for open house.
Science: Read Module 5 p. 111-124. Make vocabulary notes for all underlined and highlighted terms.
IEW: Students created an outline today for a book report on "Freedom Train". Students will write a first draft, then a second draft by adding in the Dress ups, Sentence Openers and Decorations. Then re-write the report one final time, double spaced, with all stylistic techniques marked.
Dress Ups: who/which clause, -ly word, strong verb, quality adjective, www.asia, because clause
Sentence Opener: 1) Subject, 2) Prepositional, 3) -ly, 4) -ing, 5) www.asia, 6) VSS (very short sentence)
Decorations: question, conversation, 3sss (3 short, staccato sentences), simile/metaphor, alliteration (repeated consonant sounds like: fuming, fiery furnace).
American History: Read "The First Presidents Decision" & "Admiral Faragut" in your history book. Write down four important facts from each chapter to share in class. Get a piece of posterboard. Begin to make a timeline of Civil War battles and important events. Draw a picture or use a graphic to illustrate each event. You can make this all at one time or add a little each week as we read. Practice the timeline!
American Literature: Continue reading "Charlie Skedaddle". Chapters 9 - 17 should be done by Tuesday. Look up the vocabulary words from the boardwork in class yesterday and add them to your vocabulary words. Mrs. Randle will send them out via email for anyone that does not have them. Also, study your vocabulary words and literary devices for a game this tuesday that will include a small prize for the winner.
